At the end of the week on March 30, all of Facebook’s fan pages will convert over to the new Timeline look.
Eek!
While I wasn’t so sure about the change at first, once I got my page all in place, I felt a little more settled!
In addition to the timeline cover photo (which I just updated a yesterday), I also updated by description on the left, created a button for the DIY Blog Critique Preview (which you get for liking the page) and one for the email list to highlight the mini e-book. You can even change the wording underneath them so I customized those too.
If you want to customize your images or wording, go to Admin Panel>Manage>Edit Page>Apps and then click on Edit Settings for the app you want to edit. You’ll then see a place to change the wording and update the image.
Since Timeline was announced earlier this month, there are plenty of great articles and resources to visit to learn the scoop. So here are 5 pretty slick places to get info and inspiration about Facebook Timeline pages!
1. AG Beat- 40 brands using Timeline Cover Photos on Facebook Pages
What better way to start off than some eye candy? A great place to ooh, aah and perhaps get some great inspiration for your cover photo.
2. Techno Cruze- The New Updated Facebook Cheat Sheet of Sizes and Dimensions
Need to know what sizes to make your images? I love this visual cheat sheet shared on Techno Cruze.
3. John Haydon- Eleven Ways Facebook Timelines Change Your Content Strategy
While this is geared towards non-profit social media marketing, I like best how John adds commentary to his screenshot tour of the new changes.
4. Social Media Examiner- 7 New Facebook Changes Impacting Businesses
While a lot of this is overlap from the previous article, I’m an information junkie and learned things from both posts.
5. Facebook- About Pages
What better place to go than straight to the source? Facebook’s Pages page (heh) has featured brand pages, a useful Help center and more. Worth a peek for sure.
So, tell me! What do you think about the change to Timeline? Have you switched over yet?

Awesome post. Question: do you know of any good apps? Like Ripe Social? Not sure I want to spend $100 but I want to integrate my blog and a way to sign up for newsletter, etc.

At first I thought I was going to hate the new timeline format, but I switched my blog page over a couple of weeks ago and I sort of like it. I have yet to take the plunge with my personal page, though. I don’t know why I feel like there’s a difference.

Still getting used to Timeline. I picked up a lot of great tips, though, from Mom Biz Mondays’ Twitter chat last week, about using Timelines for mompreneurs. This article just helped concretize the visuals for me — really helpful! Thanks for this!

I love the new timeline! I found by saving as a png file it made my image look much better, not as compressed.

I love timeline. It takes some getting used to, but it’s very appealing to me in terms of “looks.” Facebook will always push forward and improve and people will always resist at first, but I LOVE being able to click back in previous years and see what happened on my personal profile, and it makes my blog page look great, too.
