Spankin’ New Week-Long Series Coming June 27

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I promised some fun news today!

For tons of bloggers, blog conferences are on the brain lately. Type A Parent is coming up next week (my first blog conference!), Evo in July and BlogHer in August, not to mention three more Bloggy Boot Camps this year. And there are even more than that. Type A peeps, stay tuned for something extra special at the end of this post.

If there’s one thing you need to pack for a conference, it’s bloggy business cards. But what should you put on them? What are the latest trends? What the heck do other bloggers’ cards look like? Well, from June 27 – July 1, you’ll know the answer to all of that.

Introducing…

Before I get to the deets, I’ve gotta give a LOUD megaphone shout-out to Amy (@babybabylemon) from Baby Baby Lemon and Megan (@MrsWndr) from Sunshine Wonderland. The idea for this week all started with a convo with them on Twitter. I tweeted that I wouldn’t have a post last Thursday because I was messing with my business card all day. Both Amy and Megan suggested I write a post about b-cards in time for people to order before BlogHer. Well, here you go, ladies!

That, my friends, is why I LOVE Twitter.

Super Fab Bloggy B-Card Week Preview

So what does the Super Fab Bloggy B-Card Week look like?

Monday, June 27: What should go on a blog business card (and why you need one)

Tuesday, June 28: Guest post from the ever fabulous Fadra of All Things Fadra and Social Dialect

Wednesday, June 29: Hottest trends in bloggy b-cards

Thursday, June 30: Creative ways that bloggers can use QR codes on their cards (spoiler alert: yes, this is a trend! Such a trend it gets its own post.)

Friday, July 1: Bloggy business card showcase. I see these posts all the time for regular business cards but most bloggers can’t spend a fortune on REALLY expensive cards so sometimes those posts don’t help with ideas. So where am I getting the cards to showcase? Yeah, here’s the cool answer… from bloggers at Type A! If you’re at Type A, come find me and GIVE ME YOUR CARD! I’ll pick some of the most super awesome cards and feature them with a link to your blog (I’ll email you beforehand if I want to feature you).

My hope is that Bloggy B-card Week will give you all you ever need to know about business cards (at least for this year).

If you’re going to Type A, I’d love you to spread the word on Twitter using the #typeacon hashtag. I want to collect as many b-cards as possible! Even if you aren’t going, I’d still love you to spread the word: all bloggers can benefit from this series, don’t have think?

Psst… I have even more news to share on Monday. Yes, I’m a news-making machine. So please come back. I think you’ll like it.

I hope you don’t mind my posting a link to my cards, which I ordered just in time for Bloggy Boot Camp a couple of weeks ago. I LOVE them. http://www.andthen-shesnapped.com/2011/05/just-another-random-tuesday.html
One thing I wish I had on there was my twitter name, and I’ve sinced changed to a dot com rather than a blogspot address, but it will still forward, so it works. I think it’s important to have your bloggy card match your blog/brand/etc.
I’m looking forward to this series, and WISH I was going to typeA so that I could meet you!

  14. I’m not going to Bloggy Boot Camp until August but I’ve already worked out the design of my card. I wanted to have the card contain the URL, contact info, elevator pitch and the two images I use as branding for the blog. That would have been too crowded for a one-sided card so I opted to do a two-sided card. There is still a little white space if someone wanted to jot a note on it while we spoke.
